This depends on the university you choose to go to. Each university has their own tuition and fees guidelines. As for period of time, this will depend on many things. Some colleges give what they call "life learning" credits that will help you fulfill course requirements based on your work/school history...such as if you ever worked in construction or studied construction in a vocational training program (also working/volunteering for programs such as Habitat for Humanity or other home building agencies will help here), others use something that is called CLEP or DANTES (there are a variety of other names as well). These are optional tests that you can take, if you feel you have college level knowledge of a certain subject. These can also shorten the length of time you spend in college. Not all colleges accept CLEP or DANTES, but you can peruse the information at: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html and http://www.dantes.doded.mil/dantes_web/examinations/index.htm?Flag=True I do not know much about this major, so I can't give you a time line of how long it would take without any of the above mentioned credit options.
